I am having so much fun! Why? Because I feel free to create the life I want to be living. I seem to feel a lot more freedom than many people I know. I have less "shoulds" in my brain and a whole lot of curiosity and enthusiasm. My mother recently reminded me that she prefers not to ask "Why?", but to ask "Why not?" Good point! Those two short questions have such a different feeling behind them. One of the main reasons I can live joyfully and accomplish what seems to boggle other people's minds is my training in the Feldenkrais Method®. I could talk for hours about all the fascinating aspects of the Feldenkrais Method®, so that's why I created this blog! I want to share what I've learned since I started studying the Method in 2003, what I'm learning at present, and provide a forum for fellow (and fella) Feldy fans to connect and share what they're excited about.
So, Lesson #1: First Approximation
The first time you do something (blogging, for example) you (or I) may not be great at it because our brains are encountering something new. The brain needs an opportunity to build the neural connections needed to do the activity with ease. So, don't be hard on yourself! Give yourself time and you'll figure it out. Just think what would have happened if you hadn't walked the first few times you tried so you gave up! Does a one year old have more perseverance than you do today? Don't give up and soon your slog through the mud will feel like sailing! And that's going to put a smile on your face!
